Where it started
Existing SOS features call emergency services and stop there. We wanted to know what actually happens in the minutes that matter.
What we heard
From 14 interviews: asking for help takes too many steps when you're scared, and the people who could reach you fastest, the ones a few streets away, are never told.
What we built
One tap (or a shake) sends an SOS to emergency contacts and to app users nearby, with live location. A map shows nearby police stations and hospitals. Alerts update in real time over WebSockets, and a web portal lets police and hospitals see requests by category.
What happened
2nd place among 150+ participants at TechSparks (FCRIT).
What I'd do next
Design for false alarms from day one, and test how long the first alert takes to arrive on a weak 3G connection.
